Conner Prairie gets White House honors
Indianapolis - Conner Prairie received a big honor Friday at the White House.
First Lady Michelle Obama presented the interactive history park with this year's National Medal for Museum and Library Service. The award goes to museums and libraries demonstrating commitment to public service through innovative programs and community partnerships.
The First Lady praised Connor Prairie for giving families hands-on history lessons.
"On one visit, they might be pioneers living on the prairie in the early 1800s. On the next visit, they might be fugitive slaves risking their lives for a chance at freedom," said Michelle Obama.
Conner Prairie is one of only ten institutions in the country to receive the high honor from the White House.
