Two Indiana towns are showing their support for teenagers critically injured when a vacation joyride in a parasail ended up crashing them into a high-rise building and a parking lot full of cars.

Two 17-year-olds were injured when the parasail broke loose from a motor boat in Panama City, Florida. High winds carried the girls higher, and brought them down hard on top of several cars.

Roanoke's annual patriotic concert honors veterans and active service members. This year, Wednesday night's event will also focus on the two high school teenagers.

"A lot of prayers and concern. It could have happened to any of our children. They will get better. God's grace will allow them to do well," said Alice Eshelman.

Local restaurateur Alice Eshelman put up giant get well cards along Main Street to allow those in this small community to write their support to Sidney Good and Alexis Fairchild.

The 17-year-olds are seniors at Huntington North High School.

In an update Wednesday, their families said both girls sustained head trauma as well as multiple severe lacerations. Alexis has severe back injuries and Sidney has neck trauma. But they are showing some positive signs in what is sure to be a long recovery.

A YouTube video captured the accident.

"I didn't want to watch it. It was horrific. I've never had such a heavy heart in my whole life. Something like this happening to girls so innocent and close to me," said Natalie Mills.

Natalie Mills is in cosmetology class with her best friends. Mills says she was supposed to go on the trip with Sidney's family this week to Florida but couldn't.

"I'm hopeful God is going to push them through. Everyone is praying. There are so many prayers going out," said Mills.

Mills said she plans to bring the get well cards to the girls' family members to take down to Florida later this week.

The friends are also organizing fundraising events to help pay for the girls medical bills as they recover from the horrible accident.

"I know they are fighters. They will come back goofy and happy-go-lucky; the girls they've always been around me," said Mills.

Statement from the Good and Fairchild Families:

Our daughters, Sidney Good and Alexis Fairchild, are still in critical condition at Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida from a parasailing accident on July 1.  Both girls sustained head trauma as well as multiple severe lacerations.  Alexis has severe back injuries and Sidney has neck trauma.  However, we are fortunately seeing some positive signs from both Sidney and Alexis.  Sidney has been responsive to caregivers and has been able to use small movements to communicate including a thumbs up for her parents.  Alexis had surgery today on her spine and has also been responsive including a small wave at her parents when she returned from surgery.  Our families are incredibly touched by all the support we've received from friends at home and from many people we haven't met before who are praying for our girls.  While the situation is still critical we are encouraged by these very small signs of progress.  We have heard from so many generous people who have offered to help and we are working to establish a fund for the medical care of both Sidney and Alexis.  We will have more information on that to come.  Thank you again to all who are thinking of and praying for our girls.  Your prayers are working!
