Columbus couple wins $1M in Powerball drawing
A Columbus couple hit it big!
Larry and Mary Baldwin won $1 million in a recent Powerball drawing. Wednesday morning they collected their prize at the Circle K gas station in Columbus where the couple bought the ticket.
"We jokingly talked about this kind of stuff. What would you do with it?" said Mary Baldwin.
Not a joke any longer, Mary and Larry Baldwin are holding their million-dollar prize. Larry's quick-pick ticket matched five numbers on last Wednesday's Powerball drawing.
"Nerve-wracking. It's scary!" said Larry Baldwin.
The Columbus couple starts each morning with a Polar Pop from the gas station. The two are retired from Cummins but still work full time. They have no plans to stop working.
"I like working. I like structure," said Mary.
Friends captured the big win for photo albums. Two of the couple's five children are trying to convince Mom and Dad to take that dream trip to Hawaii!
"They are very basic people. They don't have nice things. They just want to enjoy life," said son Robert Baldwin.
"I think it's great it happens in Columbus and especially to us. I just wish my Dad had lived long enough to see this. It's great but loved ones are more special," said Larry Baldwin.
The Baldwins said they still plan to visit store every week to buy lottery tickets.
