Colts donate $18K to Anderson city cleanup

A donation from the Indianapolis Colts will help a central Indiana town hit hard by winter weather not only have their annual city cleanup, but make it bigger.

Anderson was originally going to reorganize its spring cleanup because of overtime expenses during the harsh winter. An $18,000 donation from the Colts, though, will help make the citywide effort "bigger and better than ever," according to city officials.

The City will kick off a three-week cleanup event Monday morning at 10:00 at Jackson Park in Anderson. It will finish Saturday, May 17 with the Reverent JT Meniffee Cleanup. That culminating event will include dumpsters at Athletic Park manned by employees and volunteers, with employees pickup up trash and operating heavy equipment for trash and debris removal throughout the city.

More details are expected to be released on specific events and times.
