Charges increased against Greenwood burglary suspect
A man who allegedly broke into a Greenwood home now faces a felony burglary charge after the prosecutor decided the suspect should face the most severe consequences.
Investigators say Scottie Turner, 54, broke into a home last month. The homeowners confronted the intruder by grabbing a gun. They subdued the suspect until police arrived.
Turner was arrested over the weekend on a class D felony, which carries a three-year prison sentence. But prosecutors took a second look at the case and decided to seek a stiffer Class A felony carrying a 50-year prison sentence.
The Johnson County Prosecutor's Office says it "will continue to pursue the most severe consequences available against people who invade our citizens' homes."
