The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is promoting flu shots for children in day care.

Studies show the shots could cut down on the number of kids hospitalized with the illness. Right now, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York City require flu shots for kids in licensed daycare and preschool programs.

The CDC found after the regulation was implemented the number of young children who got flu shots went up and the hospitalization rate went down 12 percent.
