Carmel passes new ordinance for cyclists, dog walkers
Carmel officials passed strict new laws that could mean $100 fines for bike riders and dog walkers.
The ordinance deals with anyone using or driving around the Monon Trail between 96th Street and 146th Street. Bicyclists can now only ride two-wide on the trail and dog walkers must use leashes that are six feet long or shorter.
Another big part of the ordinance deals with drivers. They will be fined if they make a right turn in front of a cyclist. That new rule will be enforced on every Carmel city street.
