A car wash caught fire on Indy's south side Sunday, sending plumes of smoke into the air.

Fire tore through the Hog Wash car wash on Shelby Street near Sumner that morning after a truck caught fire in the self-wash bay. The fire then spread to the building, according to investigators.

The driver was paying to turn the sprayers on when she spotted flames coming from the engine. She and another customer tried to put the fire out with buckets of water. At one point, she even got back in the truck to try to move it. When that didn't work, the woman escaped.

No one was hurt, but the fire caused $300,000 in damage to the car wash.
