A car crashed into the side of a northeast Indianapolis home after a short pursuit Monday night.

The driver of the vehicle sped off when police attempted to stop it around 10 p.m. The vehicle lost control and struck an unoccupied home in the 3100 block of Riley Avenue. The side of the home sustained extensive damage.

One occupant of the vehicle was taken into custody by police and transported to Eskenazi Health to be checked for injuries. A second occupant remains the subject of a search and remains at large.

Police didn't say why they were pursuing the vehicle, but the vehicle was reported stolen, and a handgun was recovered inside.
