UPDATE: Cancelled Silver Alert

The Silver Alert issued by the Bloomington Police Department for Gustav Bayerle, 82, has been cancelled. Bayerle was located at a gas station along State Road 37 near State Road 60 by officers from the Mitchell Police Department in Mitchell, Indiana at approximately 01:30 am on 4/5/2013. Bayerle has been reunited with his family.


Bloomington police have issued a Silver Alert for a missing 82-year-old man.

Police say Gustav Bayerle was last seen driving in the 3300 block of East 3rd Street in Bloomington around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Bayerle was following his wife home in a separate vehicle when he unexpectedly turned a different direction.

The Silver Alert was extended statewide around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

His whereabouts are unknown at this time. Officers have checked places he frequently visits and neighborhoods on the east side of Bloomington.

Police believe Bayerle may be in danger due to "various medical conditions."

He is described as a white male, 5'10", 220 lbs. with brown eyes and gray hair. He was wearing a black leather coat with gray pants. The vehicle Bayerle was driving is a Silver Volkswagen Passat with an Indiana license plate of 266BDG.
