Business/economic news for the week of August 26
Only one major government economic report is scheduled for release on Monday. It's on July durable goods.
Tuesday, investors will be closely analyzing the S&P/Case-Shiller index of home prices for June and the second quarter. Another potential market-mover will be released the same day: The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index for August.
Also on Tuesday, upscale retailer Tiffany & Co. will report quarterly financial results before the opening bell.
The National Association of Realtors will release the pending home sales index for July on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the weekly jobless claims number could move Wall Street traders. Also, the Commerce Department will reveal the second-quarter gross domestic product and Freddie Mac will release weekly mortgage rates.
Investors will be examining the Commerce Department's report on personal income and spending for July this Friday.
