Business and economic reports due out this week
There are no government economic reports scheduled for release today and traders will get a break from having to analyze more corporate quarterly financial results.
On Tuesday, some earnings reports will be released before the bell. They include quarterly financial results from Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Home Depot and J.C. Penney.
The National Association of Realtors reports existing home sales numbers for July on Wednesday and the Federal Reserve will release the minutes from its July interest-rate meeting.
Also Wednesday, Hewlett-Packard, Lowe's and Target report quarterly financial results before the market opens.
The Labor Department will release the weekly jobless numbers on Thursday. Freddie Mac will report weekly mortgage rates. And the Conference Board will release July's leading indicators. Also Thursday, Sears Holdings will report quarterly financial results before the bell and Gap will release its earning after the market closes.
On Friday, the Commerce Department will release the new home sales number for July.
