Brizzi returning Durham contributions
The former prosecutor for Indiana's largest county has agreed to repay about $195,000 in campaign contributions, personal loans and gifts from indicted businessman Tim Durham.
The bankruptcy trustee for Akron, Ohio-based Fair Finance Co. says most of the money to be paid back represents "fraudulent transfers" made to former Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi from companies owned or controlled by Durham.
Brizzi's campaign is paying about $170,000, with about $25,000 more coming personally from Brizzi.
The Republican's second term as prosecutor concluded at the end of 2010.
The bankruptcy trustee also is seeking to recover $195,000 in donations to Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels' campaign.
