Windy conditions created problems for Boone County crews fighting an overnight house fire north of Lebanon Wednesday morning.

Four fire crews from surrounding communities trucked water to the house on Boone County 300 North, just west of Interstate 65.

Two people safely escaped the fire, which started around 1:30 a.m.

"We went defensive right off the bat with this wind," said Bill Turner, Assistant Chief of Center Township.

Four departments, two volunteer, and two full-time, were still working on the fire at 5:30 a.m.

The house is likely a total loss.
