Body found in White River identified as missing Carmel man
Indianapolis Metro Police say a body found in the White River Monday is that of a missing Carmel man.
Police confirmed that the body is that of Walton Matthew Ward. The 22-year-old went missing Oct. 12 after being dropped off in Broad Ripple in front of Peppers Bar.
A caller told a 911 dispatcher about the body in the water near the 6400 block of Westfield Boulevard around 12:30 p.m. Monday. Workers in the area along Westfield Boulevard noticed the body and called police.
Officers worked with Indianapolis firefighters to recover the body from the water.
Homicide detectives and the Indianapolis/Marion County Crime Lab were called to the scene.
