Billing change leaves Citizens customers confused
A change in local utility bills has some local customers concerned.
Eyewitness News received several comments from viewers who said their water and sewage bills this month were significantly higher. We called Citizens Energy Group to find out why.
Citizens Energy tells us some customers who have only water and sewer service with Citizens may have noticed their last bill is more because it covers a longer service span.
Those customers are seeing as much as 75 days between bills rather than the usual 28 to 31 days.
That's because water meter readers have switched to a new schedule to be in line with the gas reading schedule due to the new combined billing system.
This longer billing period will only be reflected on this latest bill.
From now on, customers will get charged on a regular 28-31 day billing cycle.
