Bill allowing alcohol sales at Indiana State Fair advances
Indiana has moved a step closer to joining 48 other states that allow alcohol sales at their state fairs.
A bill that would allow alcohol sales at the Indiana State Fair passed out of a House Committee Wednesday morning. The bill has already passed the state Senate and is now headed to the full House of Representatives.
The state Senate previously approved the bill lifting a ban on alcohol during the Indiana State Fair that spans nearly seven decades.
North Carolina is the only other state that still does not allow fairgoers to down a cold beer on site. Ohio ended a ban on beer and wine in 2011.
Both the full House and Gov. Mike Pence must still approve the measure before the State Fair can start selling alcohol.
