Big Time Rush played a free show for residents of Newtown, Connecticut, where 26 people were shot to death at Sandy Hook Elementary School last December.

The band played to a crowd of about 3,500 yesterday on the lawn of the former Fairfield Hills psychiatric hospital. Only town residents were allowed in. It may be one of the last such events.

Town officials have stopped accepting offers for celebrity visits, saying they want to bring a period of quiet and healing.
