If you're heading downtown this weekend, you will have a lot of company. About 80-thousand visitors are expected to descend on the Circle City as Indy hosts a number of conventions and events simultaneously.

One of them is a first for Indianapolis.

Comic Con is a comic book and popular arts convention held in several cities throughout the year.

Indianapolis will welcome what's expected to be a colorful array of characters and super hero fans to the convention center this weekend to buy, sell and trade comic books and more.

40 to 100-thousand square feet of convention center space will be used to accommodate the event that is promoted as 'family friendly'.

But it's not the only game in town.

Banker's Life Fieldhouse is a sell-out as it hosts the Big Ten Men's basketball tournament.

Win or lose, there are also events supporting the games to keep fans interested.

'We feel when you sell out basketball games and have ancillary events like a career expo and 5K run and transform (the city) into a collegiate atmosphere ..We're hungry to have them back and come to Indy, ' explains Chris Gahl with Visit Indy.

Indianapolis is on a rotating basis with Chicago hosting the men's and women's Big Ten basketball tournaments.

'It's a beautiful site when Indy hosts many events,' Gahl adds.

The Public Library Conference also wraps up this weekend.

Five separate St Patrick's Day events will get underway.

Hotels are nearly sold out both downtown and in surrounding areas.

'From librarians to comic book collectors; from Big Ten fans to St Patty's day fans,' says Visit Indy's Chris Gahl, 'Indy will have it all with 80-thousand people mixing and mingling in downtown Indy and leaving behind a healthy $25-million in economic impact.'
