Bicyclist struck and injured in Johnson County

The Johnson County Sheriff's Department is investigating an accident early Sunday morning that resulted in a bicycle rider being airlifted to IU Health-Methodist Hospital, where his was listed in serious condition Sunday night.

Officers were dispatched to U.S. 31 at County Road 350 South in the Amity around 1 a.m. for an accident involving a vehicle hitting a man on a bike. 

Emergency personnel arrived and found that Brandon Ocasio, 30, of Edinburgh had been struck by a car driven by Justin Hecock, 30, of Missouri. Ocasio was transported by Lifeline Helicopter to IU Methodist Hospital. 

The car was traveling southbound on U.S. 31 when the accident occurred.

Blood was drawn from Justin Hecock and the results are pending.
