Bicentennial panel encourages local projects

The Indiana Bicentennial Commission has begun an endorsement process to promote and support other legacy projects across the state started by community partners and organizations.

A statement issued Wednesday by Indiana first lady Karen Pence and the commission co-chairs, former Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman and former congressman Lee Hamilton, says the panel has encouraged community projects from its start.

To win the commission's endorsement, the projects must be celebratory, culturally inclusive, create a legacy for the future, or engage and inspire young people.
