Ballard declares Monday "Josh Kaufman Day" in Indianapolis

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard is joining the growing support for "The Voice" finalist Josh Kaufman.

Ballard declared May 19 "Josh Kaufman Day" in the city. Kaufman will perform live on Channel 13 Monday night to try to win America's vote as the "Voice" champion.

"Good luck @iamjoshkaufman in @NBCTheVoice finals. Proud to proclaim Monday, 5/19 Josh Kaufman Day," Ballard tweeted Friday afternoon.

The Indianapolis Colts are also putting their support behind Kaufman. Kicker Adam Vinatieri and cornerback Greg Toler recorded a video released by the team.

"I want to congratulate you on making it this far and go win it all," Vinatieri said.

"Go win this thing, you have our support," Toler said.

Colts mascot "Blue" also appeared in the video, holding a "We Love Josh Kaufman" sign.

Kaufman, who lives in Indianapolis with his wife and three children, made it to the show through an audition in St. Louis.

After being selected by coach Adam Levine after all four coaches turned their chairs during his blind audition, Kaufman was cut after a battle round performance with Delvin Choice. Usher quickly stole the soulful singer and led him to the finals.

Kaufman will battle Jake Worthington and Christina Grimmie for the title Monday night. Voting will begin after the show, with a winner announced on a special finale Tuesday night on Channel 13.

Eyewitness News anchor Andrea Morehead will be in Los Angeles during the live performances and the finale next week.
