Back to school carnival gave free supplies, uniforms
A group of Indianapolis children and their parents are getting a helping hand this weekend.
New Era Church on W 30th Street sponsored a back-to-school carnival. They offered free book bags packed with school supplies. Parents who attended the workshop were also given free uniforms for their children.
Pastors from two churches worked together on the program.
"We must again open our doors and to help be that village these kids need, to support parents in the rearing of their children and to give these children an opportunity to do the best that they can in school," said Rev. Clarence Moore of New Era Church. "That's the ticket - education. And we just believe that with all our hearts."
New Era along with Connection Pointe Christian Church of Brownsburg plan to continue helping students throughout the year with homework and tutoring.
