Arrest made in deadly Muncie shooting
MUNCIE, Ind. (WTHR) - Police arrested a suspect early Friday morning in a deadly shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning.
Alonzo Williams was seen with Jeff Brown the night before Brown died, and later told a witness that he had killed Brown, supposedly in revenge for Brown's murder of Jeff Johnson. According to court documents, Williams claimed to be related to Johnson, and told a witness that he had "silenced" Brown.
Police have not named Brown as a suspect in Johnson's shooting death, which occurred on Pershing Avenue February 5.
Brown's body was found near the intersection of Inlow Springs & Burlington Dr. Tuesday, February 13. Police had gotten a call of shots fired in that area around 3 a.m. that morning.
Evidence found at the scene matched damage to a blue SUV that Williams was driving the night Brown was killed, according to the probable cause filed Friday morning in Delaware County.
Brown had been shot several times, and police recovered 14 shell casings from the scene. It was the third homicide in Delaware County in just nine days.
Just after 5:30 Friday morning, Williams was booked into the Delaware County Jail on a preliminary charge of murder.
