Indianapolis Metropolitan Police say a suspect died more than a week after he was shot while trying to rob an armored car.

53-year-old Timothy Jackson was shot December 22nd by a Brinks truck guard.

He died Thursday at an Indianapolis hospital because of complications from the wounds he suffered.

Police say Jackson was wearing body armor and shot pepper spray at the guard as he tried to steal a money bag.

It happened in a Walmart parking lot on the city's far south side.

Police say the guard then shot Jackson several times.

He tried to run away but was caught by an off-duty police officer and another witness.
