Can you really get too much sleep?

Apparently so. Doctors are now warning that sleeping too many hours may be as bad as sleeping too few. Sleeping too much is a disorder called hypersomnia. That's when a person does not feel awake after they sleep. They feel disoriented, restless, and they'll take naps many times during the day...usually at the wrong time, like at work.

Web MD reports this can happen because of a dysfunction in the autonomic nervous system, an injury to the central nervous system, or drug and alcohol abuse. Plus, it can create additional health issues. It can be associated with thyroid disease, kidney and liver disease, depression, and dementia.
