Police say two people are dead in an apparent murder-suicide on the west side of Indianapolis.

Officers responded to a home in the 1000 block of Waldemere Avenue Sunday on a report of a person shot. When they arrived, they found two people, a male and a female, dead of gunshot wounds.

Detectives believe the incident was the result of a domestic occurrence. The victims have not yet been identified.

Police say there were no small children in the home at the time of the shooting and no other injuries were reported.
