Another I-465 construction project begins in Castleton

A new construction project overnight is expected to cause delays as you head to work this morning. It's in an area already under a cone zone - I-465 in Castleton between I-69 and Allisonville Road.

Crews have been working all night, and will be at it for the next month, making some changes to work into your commute.

Construction to replace uneven pavement in the left lane of westbound 465 will shift traffic and temporarily close one ramp entering from southbound I-69. This is an area already under construction as crews are still working on the Allisonville Road bridge.  Parts of this area have been blocked off and under construction since last spring.
And work here will take longer than expected. "This is an area that typically sees congestion," said Nathan Riggs of INDOT, "so with this restriction, we're basically telling people to plan in advance in the morning commute."

The three westbound lanes of I-465 are shifting to the right between I-69 and Allisonville will continue until about 6 a.m.

And there is no designated exit for Allisonville southbound. So traffic will be slowed even more than usual and truck traffic will be limited to the center lanes. "So we're talking three lanes of 465 and merging right where south merges to the west to a single lane," Riggs said, "removing the designated exit lane for Allisonville Road."

The overall project should last about a month.
