Angie's List: Exterior home staging
Home staging can help you sell your home more quickly. It's not just the look inside, the outside matters, as well.
It's the first thing a potential buyer sees when they pull up to your home - the outside. What you have where influences if they'll like your home or not.
"Exterior home staging is a new phenomenon we are seeing on Angie's List, where companies will actually come out and be able to help you paint your house in the best light," said Angie Hicks of Angie's List. "Whether it's roof cleaning, help thinning out some landscaping, (or) just really improving the curb appeal of your home."
There are six improvements you can do to help your home's curb appeal. First, start with a clean house. Get out the power washer and remove that dirt, grime and moss. Next, revamp your yard, add those pretty flowers. Your garage door might need to be replaced. The home may also need a fresh coat of paint. Take a look at the details, house numbers need to be up and shiny. Finally, it's all about the front door.
"So, you want your front door to look good. In the case of this home, they have completely replaced their door and so it looks really, really good. But, at least paint your front door and make sure it matches up with your trim color, brick color, or whatever your exterior is," said real estate agent Mike Puckett, Sycamore Group Realtors.
First impressions are everything and that's no different for our homes. Having a great curb appeal will add value to your house, whether it is on the market or if you plan call this place home forever.
The experts at Angie's List say that flowers and gardening changes can always make a difference for a home. Even the mulch that you use can help balance the home's exterior image.
