Ambulance involved in crash in downtown Indianapolis
A Wayne Township Fire Department ambulance was involved in a crash in downtown Indianapolis Thursday afternoon while on an emergency run.
It happened at 11th and Senate Ave. The ambulance was transporting a patient in cardiac arrest to Methodist Hospital when it was T-boned by an SUV.
Two firefighters, a medic and an EMT were on board the ambulance. They were treated at Methodist Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV was checked out at the scene.
The patient was transferred to another ambulance to be taken to the hospital, and the crew involved continued to provide care to the patient until the other ambulance arrived.
The patient was taken to IU Health-Methodist Hospital, but did not survive the cardiac arrest.
