Allen's return can help Colts stretch field
Just one game into the season, the Colts were forced to improvise.
Now, with Dwayne Allen back from hip surgery, Indy's offense should have a little more pep.
In 2012, Allen led all rookie tight ends with 45 catches and 521 yards.
Last season, he had just one catch for 20 yards and a TD. But the 6-foot-3, 265-pound Clemson alum happens to be a solid blocker, too, giving the Colts one of the rarest commodities in football - a tight end capable of beating defenses in two ways.
Add that to Coby Fleener's ability to get downfield, and it's obvious how many problems the Colts tight ends could cause opponents.
