The commander of the Air National Guard base in Fort Wayne recently cleared of wrongdoing has announced he will retire in the coming months.

WOWO reports the 122nd Fighter Wing announced Sunday that Col. David Augustine will retire in three to four months. He cited health concerns that were addressed in the investigation into alleged wrongdoing that prevent him from flying.

The fifty-year-old Augustine has been with the Guard for nearly 32 years and has commanded the Fort Wayne base since 2011.

Indiana Adjutant General Martin Umbarger announced July 16 that an investigation showed Augustine had not misspent taxpayer money or done any of the other improprieties that had been alleged in an anonymous complaint.
