A one-two punch of nasty weather on the way

A winter storm warning is in effect until 1:00 am Monday.

Heavy snow will arrive first and then blustery conditions with bitter cold temperatures and wind chills running 30 to 40 below zero.

The arrival of the most intense part of this storm system has been delayed, with the heaviest snow now expected after noon. One inch of snowfall is possible per hour between noon and 7:00 pm.

Snow accumulations will be from 8″ to 10″, with some areas tacking on another inch or two. Windy conditions will cause blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibilities.

Temperatures will fall all day on Sunday. Temperatures will be in the upper 20s just after midnight and fall to near 0 by late Sunday night.

Temperatures will fall into well below zero and will stay below zero through the day Monday and Tuesday.

The last subzero high was on January 18th, 1994. Wind chill values will be 30 to 40 below zero Monday and Tuesday.

Wind Chill Warnings are in effect for Blackford, Grant, and Jay counties from Sunday night through Tuesday night.  More warnings are likely.
