Hurricane Irma has been pounding the Florida Keys for several hours now as a Category 4 hurricane. It is slow moving at only 8 mph to the north-northwest causing catastrophic storm surge, high winds and heavy rain.

It will continue to move along the west coast. It is forecast to move along the Florida west coast, impacting Fort Myers, Naples, Sarasota and Tampa this afternoon into early Monday morning. All of Florida will see major impacts for the huge storm system.

It will gradually move northwest into the Florida panhandle around early Tuesday morning.

It will still be a tropical storm as it moves into Georgia and Alabama. It will still be packing in heavy rains and strong winds.

It will eventually fall apart into an area of low pressure, impacting Indiana on Tuesday, with a chance of showers.
