NEW ACADEMIC STANDARDS:
New academic standards for Indiana Schools will be released to the public this morning at 9:00 AM. The new standards will guide teachers as they create their lesson plans. These standards will be used in place of the Common Core standards that Indiana decided to opt out of. Log on to WTHR.com at 9:00 AM for details on the new standards.
PACERS CLAIM NUMBER 1 SEED IN EASTERN CONFERENCE:
It's official, the Pacers have the number one seed in the playoffs. This was all made possible by a Miami Heat loss last night on the road to the Washington Wizards. The Heat opted for rest for LeBron James and Chris Bosh. The Wizards capitalized in a 114-93 win.
JOB FAIR TODAY:
For the 10th year City County Councilor Marilyn Pfisterer is hosting a job fair on the city's west side. She's expecting more than forty companies with at least ten job openings or more. She said the employers offer benefits, good wages and the opportunity for advancement for those willing to earn it. The fair runs today from 10 until 2 at Lakeview Church on the city's west side off I-465 and Rockville Road.
TAX DEADLINE DAY:
You must complete and file your taxes with the IRS. If you need an extension, you can go online to ask for one. According to the IRS, nearly 100 million people have already filed their taxes of out about 135 million expected filers.
After seeing a little snow and sleet, today will be dry, but very cold for the middle of April. Highs are expected to be in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
