Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will be likely across Central Indiana through Wednesday evening. Highs will reach the low 70's today with off and on rain. Tonight the showers and isolated storms will continue as temps fall to the mid 60's.
5 AMERICAN SOLDIERS KILLED:
The defense department says the death of five American Soldiers in Afghanistan may be the result of friendly fire. The soldiers were in Southern Afghanistan as part of a NATO unit. Afghan officials say that air support was called in to help fend off a Taliban attack yesterday, but that the aircraft accidentally hit the American soldiers and an Afghani soldier.
ANOTHER TEEN DIES AFTER SWIMMING ACCIDENT:
Another teen has lost his life after a swimming accident in the Big Blue River over the weekend. 16-year-old Michael Chadbourne was pulled from the river after attempting to save a friend caught in the wake. He died yesterday. The teen he jumped in to save, Sarah McClevish, is still listed in critical condition this morning.
FORMER PRESIDENT CLINTON IN TOWN:
Former President Bill Clinton will be in Indianapolis today, speaking at an insurance conference downtown. He's the keynote speaker at the annual conference of the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association at the Indiana Convention Center. He's expected to talk about business and leadership challenges. The speech is not open to the public. About 27,000 people have registered for the conference and will get to hear his address. The speech comes on the same day his wife Hillary Clinton's new book is released.
ANDERSON WIGWAM'S FUTURE:
Will Anderson's famous gymnasium, The Wigwam, be saved? We should find out later today. The Anderson redevelopment commission needs to know if a group trying to purchase the gym has the funds needed to maintain it. If they do the building could avoid the wrecking ball.
