22 students released from hospital after crash involving 2 buses
It was a frightening scene - two school buses and a car collide at an intersection. Witnesses said it looked like one bus could not stop and rear-ended a second bus. A car ran into the side of the second bus when it was knocked out into the intersection.
The students were coming from Parkview Middle School, just around the corner from the crash.
No serious injuries were reported, although 22 children were transported to local hospitals. Hospital officials told WAVE 3 News that all students have since been released.
A bus driver was also taken to the hospital. Witnesses at the scene said two people in the car were walking around right after the accident.
School and emergency officials set up a triage area in a nearby yard for the remaining 25 students. They all went home from the scene.
Many parents were there with their children after hearing about the accident---luckily it looked much worse than it was.
Indiana department of transportation officers were at the crash to look at the mechanics of the buses for a possible brake malfunction.
Police are also investigating but say it is too early to say if speed might have been a factor.
