2 shot, 1 dead on Indianapolis east side

Two people were shot and one was killed on Indianapolis' east side Monday afternoon.

Police were first called to the 400 block of N. Denny Street around 2:00 p.m. on reports of gunfire. They left then were called back around 4:15 p.m. on reports of more gunfire. When they arrived the second time, officers found two people shot.

Steve Jefferson reports an argument started inside an apartment. That argument led to a shooting that killed one person and hospitalized another. As of 6:00, investigators had not released the second victim's condition.

Investigators likewise had not released a suspect description or the identities of either victim, though they did confirm both victims were men. Based on a description given to them by witnesses, officers detained one person at the scene and took him downtown for further questioning. At last check, that person had not been placed under arrest or charged with any crimes.
