Four people were transported by medical helicopters Saturday afternoon from two different motorcycle accidents - one in Madison County and one in Hancock County.

Two medical helicopters were called to the scene of a crash in Madison County near Pendleton on I-69.

It happened early Saturday afternoon at about 12:30 p.m. in the north bound lanes of I-69 near the 222 mile marker near the State Road 9 and SR 67 exit.

Police say a motorcycle driver lost control and crashed.  The driver and passenger were both injured and transported by helicopters to area hospitals.

Information on the cause of the accident was not available.

A couple of hours later, two medical helicopters were called to a different motorcycle crash on State Road 9 in Hancock County at about 2:38 p.m. Saturday.

The Hancock County Sheriff's Department says a motorcycle driver veered off the roadway for unknown reasons and came to rest in a grassy area on State Road 9 just north of I-70 in Greenfield.

The husband and wife on the motorcycle were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Both victims were airlifted to Indianapolis hospitals for treatment.

The crash closed the roadway for about two hours.

Both accidents are still under investigation.

Conditions of the four crash victims have not been released.
