2 girls found after search of Northeast Indiana cornfield
Two 4-year-old girls were found safe after they were missing inside a northeastern Indiana cornfield for more than two hours.
The search for the cousins brought dozens of emergency workers and a helicopter to the field along U.S. 6 near the DeKalb County town of Waterloo on Thursday.
Trisha Burritt tells WANE-TV that her daughter's grandfather was watching the girls and they were missing after he briefly went into the garage.
Waterloo firefighter Tyler Weldon tells The Star of Auburn crews walked a grid pattern through the 50-acre cornfield until the girls were found.
Burritt says the girls made it to a creek and were hiding because they were scared of the helicopter. The girls were checked out by medics and released to family members.
