Two people are in custody after a chase through the streets of Indianapolis Saturday evening.

Around 7:30 p.m., an officer tried to pull over a Chrysler van reported stolen earlier in the day when the driver took off, according to authorities. A chase ensued, though police say it never reached high speeds.

The van eventually hit a pole. The driver jumped out and ran, but police caught him between Meridian and Illinois streets. He claimed he didn't realize the van was stolen. Police allegedly found marijuana on the driver when they got him.

One of the four passengers - a 14-year-old boy with a warrant out for his arrest - also ran off and hid after the crash. Police were able to find him with the help of K-9 units.

The other three passengers who had all been in the back seat were released because they were not involved in the theft. They didn't know the van was stolen, according to police, and the driver refused to let them out once the chase started.

Neither of the suspects have been identified.
