The Scripps National Spelling Bee kicks off this week in our nation's capitol. Indiana is sending 14 students to compete - 8 of those from central Indiana.

The central Indiana spellers range in age from 11 to 14 and are from all over the area, including Indianapolis, Carmel, Anderson and Muncie.

The first round of the bee - written tests - begins Tuesday, and the on-stage spelling finals are Thursday night.

You can learn more about all the spellers representing Indiana on the Bee's website.
