Andy Horning, Libertarian candidate for Indiana governor
Lisa Ann Kelly, Libertarian lieutenant governor candidateIndianapolis - The economy will no doubt be one of the main topics of discussion among the candidates during Tuesday's gubernatorial debate. Libertarian candidate Andy Horning showed off a six-point plan that he says will help Hoosiers weather this financial storm.
While the banking industry and investors wait to hear details from the administration on the bailout plan, Libertarian Andy Horning outlined his plan to aid struggling Hoosiers with this struggling economy.
"Every Hoosier homeowner will see a 50-percent reduction in property taxes, period. Second, there will be an immediate end to foreclosures related to property taxes. No one should lose their home to property taxes and if Andy Horning is elected no one will," said Lisa Ann Kelly, Horning's running mate.
"We have to cut spending. We have to cut taxes and we have to have some kind of stabilized basis for banking and currency," said Andy Horning, by switching to gold- and silver-backed currency.
The Dow Jones industrial average soared the same day Horning and his running mate Lisa Kelly made their announcement on the east steps of the Statehouse.
"When you see the stock market go up and the rich people getting all excited and happy, that's not a good sign necessarily. What that means is we are getting into that same struggle rich versus poor, ruler versus ruled. We are putting a wedge between the classes and that's not a good thing and it's not American," Horning said.
Horning says all of his six points are already law and therefore already on the books so he says all that needs to be done, according to Horning, is to enforce them.
"We have to respond at the state level with some kind of sound currency policy plus massive budget cuts," said Horning.
Horning says that will get the state back on firm financial footing and help Hoosiers through these tough economic times.
