Pipe bomb materials discovered during vehicle search

Posted: Updated:

Indianapolis - Metro police arrested two men for allegedly making and transporting homemade explosive devices.

A Metro police bomb technician emptied the items from the suspects' car at a gas station at Southport Road and Emerson Avenue on the south side.

Police were looking for the vehicle after a report of shoplifting from a nearby Target Store. They found gun powder, fuses and at least one assembled explosive device.

"When they were conducting their investigation they noticed some of the items that were taken in the theft and then they started looking closer and saw some items that appeared to be the explosive devices," said Lt. Jeff Duhamell.

"They entered the gas station and said we've got to close down. We've got to get everyone out in a hurry and everyone left in a hurry," said Ron Montagua, witness.

Gregory Killion, 22, and 18-year-old Daniel Filskov face charges for shoplifting and possession of a destructive device.
