Noblesville postal carrier indicted

Noblesville - The postal carrier's appointed rounds included downtown Noblesville. But for some on her route the mail did not go through. She's charged with stealing mail and misusing a postal service credit card to do something we all do and hate to do: fuel our tanks. In fact, the U. S. Attorney says it's the fuel issue that lead inspectors to the missing mail.

We tried to reach postal worker Tina Beaver but neighbors say they moved after her house was foreclosed on.

Neighbors said "That doesn't sound like the type of person she would be. She got laid off from the Postal Service."

Fired actually for allegedly using the postal service Voyager fuel credit card not to fill up her 14-gallon mail truck but to pump 16 gallon fill-ups into her personal vehicle. Over 9 months inspectors checking receipts found the 2 gallon per fill up difference.

They say Beaver racked up $800 in illegal gas card charges.

"You're kidding," said one postal customer. On top of that investigators say she stole one hundred pieces of mail on her downtown route. It's unclear if anything valuable disappeared from that mail. Some of the missing mail was later found thrown away.

"I guess I understand why she would do it but it still isn't right," said one postal customer about the gas card allegations.

Another said "It's incredible what people do these days You've got to pay for your own gas. Yes, very much and a lot."

"Nope," said another customer at the Noblesville Post Office, "You don't use your company credit card for your own use. No way."

At the Indianapolis main Post Office they don't need gas cards. They've got a fueling center here. Not the case at other stations. The Postal Service says it regularly checks gas card receipts to make sure they are used properly.
