IU wants to create master plans to guide development

Bloomington, Ind.  - Indiana University's president wants to create master plans that could guide future expansions of the school's Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses.
Michael McRobbie says the school needs a master plan to help in the construction of new facilities and renovation of existing structures.

IU's vice president for administration will draft an outline of what the university is looking for in its master planner. Architectural firms can apply to create the master plans, with the winning firm being selected by a panel of 17 people. The firm would have about a year to make a the master plans by December 2008.

A previous study said the school's Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses would need 5 million square feet of new research space over the next two decades.
