Family, police search for missing Lawrence man

Lawrence - Police and a desperate family are looking for public help in their search for a missing Lawrence man. Chuck Rickey was last seen Sunday night cheering on the Bears in the Super Bowl. He hasn't been seen since. Now his family is doing whatever they can to find him.

Charlie Rickey is taking his search for his son door to door. "My son was in an accident Sunday night and I didn't know if you'd seen anything or not," he told one neighbor.

Chuck Rickey, 36, was last seen watching the Super Bowl at a north side Indianapolis tavern. Police and his family think he'd been drinking. Rickey's pick-up was found less than two miles away on Hazel Dell Parkway in Carmel. It had crashed and flipped. The ignition was turned off and the keys were gone. No one has seen him since.

Charlie Rickey, his wife and family are circulating a missing person flyer in the neighborhood near where the crash happened, hoping someone saw something.

"I think he was dazed. Somebody picked him up; maybe he's laying low because he thinks he's in trouble, which he's not. We just want him home or know where he is," said Rickey.

Charlie and Marilyn Rickey last spoke to their son Saturday night. Rickey was excited about just starting a new job and they say he wouldn't just disappear. He left the tavern where he watched the Super Bowl dressed in a Chicago Bears T-shirt, a Bears stocking cap and blue jeans.

"We're just praying to God that he hasn't frozen to death," said Marilyn Rickey.

Despite searches from the air and on the ground, police have no leads into Rickey's disappearance.

Chuck Rickey's family is asking that anyone living along Hazel Dell Parkway check their backyards for anything that might help police. Carmel police hope to soon search a nearby gravel pit.
