Abducted woman used code word to alert family

Elkhart - Police say an Elkhart woman abducted with her four children used a code word when she called relatives to let them know she was in danger.

Authorities say the code word was previously established because Kimberly Walker's ex-boyfriend had attacked her before.

Police say after Jerry White took Walker and her children to an Elkhart motel, he allowed her to call home to tell her family she was okay, but instead, she used the code word to let them know she was in danger.

The kidnapping led to a statewide amber alert.

Authorities were able to trace calls to the motel and found Walker and her children. They arrested White.

He now faces attempted murder and confinement charges. He's accused of shooting a man just before abducting Walker and the children.
