Baby x-rayed in baggage machine at SoCal airport

Los Angeles - An innocent mistake by an inexperienced traveler - that's how the security chief for Los Angeles' airports is describing an incident this weekend, where a woman put her one-month-old grandson through an X-ray machine at Los Angeles International Airport.

Airport officials said a startled security worker noticed the shape of a child on the carry-on baggage screening monitor and immediately pulled him out.

The infant was taken to a local hospital, where doctors determined he did not receive a dangerous dose of radiation.

Security director Paul Haney said the last time something like this happened was in 1988, when an infant in a car seat went through an X-ray machine at LAX.
