Air show thrills on final day

Lynsay Clutter/Eyewitness News

Mt. Comfort - The Indianapolis Air Show finished up Sunday with an amazing line-up. From old acrobatic bi-planes to new military fighter jets, spectators took a trip through aviation history. The final day of the Indianapolis Air Show will be one to remember.

"Some of the planes go real fast," said a spectator.

"Some of them are cool to watch take off," said another spectator.

Kids couldn't wait to see the inside of old war birds, like Hot Stuff, Wicked Wabbit, and Yankee Lady.

For others like 84-year-old Floyd Hale the planes brought back memories.

"I flew off six different air craft carriers," said Hale.

He served in the Navy during WWII, and lived to tell about the time his plane crashed into the water then and run over by an air craft carrier.

Hale exclaimed, "I have no idea how I lived through it."

Floyd still keeps up on aviation technology and loves talking to pilots about today's F-18 Hornets. Amazing capabilities, he says, except for maybe one new option.

"Let the computers land it. Most pilots I talk to don't like that part at all," he says.

What's great about an air show: the old meets the new and today's kids can learn about both.

"I like the old ones. Do you like the old ones or the new ones? I like the old ones because my Grandpa flew in WWI and WWII," said a spectator.
